FEDERATION 2 WORKBENCH FOR WINDOWS
This version of the workbench is for Windows computers only - it will also run on Macs running a Windows emulator and Linux computers with the WINE emulator. (You can download the Mac version here.)
System requirements: Pentium 166 minimum, 650 recommended. Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, etc. Graphics resolution 1024 x 768.
Basic Workbench Manual
The Fed2 Basic Workbench includes the Location Editor and the Message Editor, the basic tools used to design a planet.
Click on the link below to download a zip file containing the Location Editor, the Message Editor and a set of files for the Ice stock planet (in a sub-folder called ice). Unzip the download into the folder of your choice.

Checking Your Planet
There are two programs available that will help you check your planet before you submit the files. The Tesla planet checker, which you can download by clicking the link above, will tell you about any problems that might stop your planet from loading.
You can also download a Fed2 simulator program that will allow you to walk through your planet and check that everything works, before it gets added to the game.
