Gwarrior says, "Art, why don't you start off by telling us a little about how you came to be in Fed"

Art says, "I started the first of August, 1997"

Art says, "I had been playing with computers since 1978, but that was when I got my first one with an internet connection."

Gwarrior asks, "wow, so back in the aol days.. or right after the move to the web?"

Art says, "Just before the move. Just long enough to get hooked so I could have withdrawal during those awful weeks during the actual move."

Gwarrior laughs.

Art did manage to get fed wed during the move... even with no Fed

Fancy says, "That makes today the 7th anniversary to the day of when she started playing."

Art says, "Yep, that's one reason I wanted to do the M&G today"

Gwarrior says, "oh wow...I didn't realize that... thanks for pointing it out Fancy"

Fancy smiles and nods.

Art drawls, "So, everyone can sing Happy Birthday to me..."

Merk exclaims, "Feliz cumpleanos!"

Fancy hums a pitch note.

Rasal says, "Ah. I sense birthday spankings in the air.."

Art perks!

Gwarrior drawls, "um... not a good suggestion Rasal...."

Fancy says, "Not here and now at least."

Art will be available later.

Rasal was merely sensing, not suggesting. So there. ;)

Gwarrior asks, "is there anyone that you remember fondly from those early days?"

Art says, "Yes, my first Fed hubby, who became Coffee after the move"

Gwarrior asks, "Coffee?"

Gwarrior asks, "did he perk when he saw you coming?"

Art says, "Something like that"

Art says, "And Albansire and Jaid"

Fancy smirks at the pun.

Gwarrior couldn't help it.

Gwarrior doesn't think he has heard those names before.

Art says, "Very old names, and they no longer play. Haven't for years"

Fancy remembers having seen Coffee and Albansire in Fed long ago.

Ferreri remembers Jaid

Gwarrior asks, "anyone else?"

Art says, "Oh yes. I was also a member of a guild, the Kinghts of Paradise. My best friends there were KingJ and Reminobles."

Art drawls, "In fact..."

Gwarrior says, "Knights of Paradise? interesting"

Art says, "It was based on the SCA, the Society for Creative Anachronism"

Gwarrior says, "ooooh"

Bork says, "lol"

Art says, "But when they started pay to play, I followed KingJ and several other to another game."

Gwarrior asks, "so you took a break from Fed?"

Art says, "Where I rose in rank in the guild until I was Queen and running the whole guild."

Art says, "But I neve completly left fed, just had to cut way back"

Gwarrior says, "yikes... I bet that was exciting"

Art says, "The longest I have ever been out of fed in the whole 7 years was 2 weeks, once, when I didn't have any access to a computer"

Gwarrior says, "ah"

Art says, "Other than that, well, I'm pretty much in every day"

Gwarrior asks, "any memorable moments in your 7 years?"

Art says, "Lots of times, i just watch what is going on. Amazing some of the things you can see"

Art drawls, "Many memorable moments... Several weddings, getting my first planet, the first time I made Duchesse, getting a Walrus..."

Gwarrior raises an eyebrow.

Gwarrior asks, "several weddings?"

Art says, "Of course, there have been sad times too, like when friends left."

Art says, "Hey, I was usually just married to one guy at a time."

Art says, "Usually"

Gwarrior laughs.

Gwarrior asks, "want to give us any names?"

Art says, "I'm not going to list them all. Some just lasted a few days."

Art says, "But the one that I was married to the longest was Emcee."

Art still misses him.

Gwarrior asks, "how long did that one last?"

Art says, "Almost a year"

Gwarrior says, "wow"

Art says, "Which is practically forever in fed time"

Ron says, "AN eternity in Fed."

Gwarrior says, "that is true... seeing as most relationships last only a few weeks"

Art nods.

Art says, "But the thing that keeps me coming back is planet design"

Gwarrior says, "ok..... in your time in Fed.... you have crafted nearly 16 planets, both for events and player planets"

Gwarrior asks, "aside from Ascii, which won you your Walrus, which one is your favorite?"

Art asks, "Yep, and I even made up a list of them... got a bunch of time?"

Wolfyn grins.

Gwarrior looks at his watch.

Gwarrior says, "sure, why not.."

Art drawls, "Ok, in Classic fed, and roughly in this order..."

Art says, "Ditzy of Oops, my first planet which went online December 1, 1997."

Art says, "Nicelady of Dungeon who reincarnated as Tis of Torture."

Art says, "Icelady had Brr."

Art says, "Rumor had Gossip."

Art says, "My RL son Madhatter had Teaparty, but I wrote it for him to teach him how to write planets, and he later became Auditor and wrote IRS."

Art says, "Librarian (an orangutan from the Discworld books of Terry Pratchett) had Books."

Art says, "What had Something."

Wolfyn frowns, "And used to hang out on Mercury. :("

Art says, "Mapster has Maps which I use for mapping in Fed2."

Art says, "And of course I have Ascii which won a Walrus Award April 4, 2004."

Art says, "And I've designed several throwaway planets which I used for research"

Gwarrior asks, "and your event planets?"

Art says, "Toystore: Christmas 2002"

Gwarrior asks, "you even got to leave your mark on Fed2, didn't you?"

Art says, "Fools: April Fools 2003"

Art says, "Sleepyhollow: Halloween 2003"

Art says, "Mings: New Years 2004"

Art says, "Eggs: Easter 2004 which took almost 3 weeks to solve."

Catsmeowcc says, "wow"

Art says, "And Sleepyhollow was based on a planet I designed for Scavenger Hunt way back when"

Gwarrior asks, "are you doing another one for this Halloween?"

Art says, "Possibly. I'm thinking of doing one based on the Phantom of the Opera"

Gwarrior says, "oh wow, that should be interesting"

Fancy remembers the layout of Sleepyhollow being somewhat familiar, especially the area with the Headless Horseman.

Icephantom thinks he should have art design his planet when he gets that far in about a year or two

Art says, "And one of the greatest honors I ever got was when the Demi-GOddess asked me to design a planet for Fed2"

Fancy smiles for Art.

Wolfyn grins.

Art says, "So I got to write Rhea."

Ferreri likes Rhea

Art says, "I'm still working on parts of it."

Gwarrior says, "yes, Rhea is a very beautiful and well done planet"

Ron has chased around Rhea.....

Art says, "Thank you."

Art says, "I'm glad that I had the chance to be a part of Fed2 in a lasting way."

Gwarrior nods.

Art says, "Of course, writing an official planet is different from writing a player planet."

Icephantom says, "that is a great honor "

Wolfyn asks, "How so?"

Gwarrior asks, "many other rules have to be taken into account, correct?"

Art says, "On player planets, just about anything goes, within the house rules, but event planets have to have more consistancy with the official Sol planets."

Racingnut has just arrived.

Art says, "And for Rhea, it had to blend in with the rest of the solar system"

Wolfyn nods.

Racingnut nods quietly grabs a beer and takes a seat

Gwarrior asks, "so Rhea got the agri end of the spectrum?"

Art says, "And there are new tools used to design the planet. THey bear a vauge resemblence to Genesis, but are so much more advanced."

Art says, "Yes, I chose agri."

Gwarrior says, "yes, we heard about the new event system from Hazed"

Art has been tearing her hair out learning how to use it.

Art says, "But I'm learning."

Art says, "And it is much more flexible than classic fed events"

Gwarrior says, "ok, does anyone have a question for Art? and if you would, raise your hand and let me acknowledge you"

Gwarrior listens to the crickets.

Art takes out her brush and starts painting portraits of the crickets...

Rasal raises his hand.

Wolfyn raises a paw.

Ron says, "No question....just a compliment to Art on Rhea and Ascii.... both are awesome."

Gwarrior asks, "Rasal?"

Art smiles, "Thank you, Ron :)"

Rasal smiles, "Um. I don't really have a question. I just wanted to be acknowledged for something. :)"

Gwarrior laughs.

Gwarrior asks, "Wolfyn?"

Wolfyn asks, "How long did it take you to write Rhea?"

Art says, "Well, after I got the tools, I mapped it in about 2 hours., then I sat for over a month just thinking about what I wanted to do."

Wolfyn says, "Wow"

Ferreri raises her hand

Icephantom raises hand

Art says, "Occasionally I would add to or change the map, but I didn't write more than short descriptions "

Gwarrior asks, "Ferr?"

Art says, "Then when I finally started writing the descriptions, it took about a week"

Ferreri asks, "do you plan to stay here in Fed II and write more planets?"

Art says, "But I had everything planned before I started writing."

Art says, "I haven't decided yet. I do have an idea for a tech or indy space station orbiting the sun."

Gwarrior says, "oh wow, that would be interesting"

Art says, "Planets are rather sparce there"

Wolfyn ships in air conditioners.

Ferreri imagines something on the back side.

Fancy says, "Wouldn't want that TOO close to the sun."

Ron got dropped near the sun by those customs guys.

Art says, "Well, solar power would reduce costs... I think."

Catsmeowcc chuckles

Icephantom asks, "what type of planet would you suggest a first timer start with?I mean how complicated?"

Gwarrior says, "I've heard that the customs guys have even been dropping people behind the sun"

Art says, "It depends on how much experience you've had with writing. "

Icephantom says, "got stop thre time last night on one trip darn it"

Icephantom says, "absoulutely none never got that far in classic fed"

Art says, "One thing that will help you write a better planet is to study the award winning planets... and absolutely avoid the word YOU."

Gwarrior says, "when I really started my first planet... I started with a pencil and paper.. writing all of the locations down that I wanted.. then started on the program"

Art says, "It will force you to be a better writer."

Icephantom says, "I see thnk you "

Gwarrior says, "oh yes.. I know a couple of people who attempted to write an entire planet without the word "you""

Art says, "And one phrase that absolutely drives me crazy is 'You can help but notice'"

Art says, "You can't help but notice"

Icephantom LOL

Art exclaims, "If it's that obvious, then just TELL me!"

Ferreri worries about her mood.
