THE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO FED2 - KINDLE VERSION
Once you have downloaded the Kindle version of the Idiot's Guide, you can read it on Amazon's Kindle device, or use the Kindle reader software on the PC or Mac, or the app for the iPhone or iPad.
The file you downloaded is called idiot.mobi. You need to find it on your computer and then follow the instructions below.
Read the file on your Kindle:
- Use a USB cable to connect your Kindle to your computer.
- On your PC, use Windows Explorer to open up the folder where you saved the .mobi file.
- Click on the Start button, then on the Computer option (in the panel on the right of the start menu). This opens a window showing all of the drives on your computer, including your Kindle.
- Double-click on the drive for the Kindle, then on the documents folder.
- Copy the .mobi file from the Window’s Explorer window, to the kindle/documents window.
- The file will show up on your Kindle ready for you to read it.
Read the file using the PC Kindle reader:
- Download Kindle for PC from the Amazon website and follow the instructions to install it.
- Run the program, then find out where it stores its e-books (Tools-Options-Content). It is usually a folder in My Documents called My Kindle Content.
- Copy the .mobi file into that folder on your computer. Close down and restart Kindle for PC and you will see the book.
Read the file using the Mac Kindle reader:
- Download Kindle for Mac from the Amazon website and follow the instructions to install it.
- Run the program, then find out where it stores its e-books (Preferences-General-Content Folder-Change).
- Copy the .mobi file into that folder on your computer.
- Close down and restart Kindle for Mac and you will see the book.
Read the file on the iPad or iPhone Kindle app:
- Install the Kindle app onto your iPad or iPhone.
- You will need an Amazon account — if you don’t already have one, set one up.
- Launch the app on your device and give your Amazon ID and password. This will register the Kindle app with Amazon.
- Look at the Settings on your app, and you will see an entry for your Send-to-Kindle e-mail address — for example, jane_99@kindle.com.
- Log onto the Amazon website and from the drop down menu on the left, select Kindle/Manage Your Kindle.
- From the menu on the left, click Personal Document Settings.
- Add your email address to the Approved Personal Document E-mail List. That will allow you to email files directly to the Kindle app.
- Now you can email the .mobi file to your kindle app's email address (ie jane_99@kindle.com). Just attach it to an email — it doesn't matter what you put in the subject line or body of the email.
- The file will show on your iPad or iPhone ready for you to read it.
