BASIC HULLS
Basic hulls are available in the following sizes:
Type | Size (tons) |
Weapons Capacity |
Fuel Usage |
Cost (ig) |
Harrier Mesa Dragon Guardian Mammoth Imperial |
200 400 600 800 1,000 1,400 |
0 1 2 2 3 4 |
1 1 2 3 4 5 |
60,000 80,000 150,000 200,000 360,000 700,000 |
Note that this is the size of the raw hull, not the eventual cargo capacity. All fittings take up space, detailed below; the weight in tons for fittings is deducted from the size of the raw hull.
Note that Guardian ships are only available to Merchants and above, Mammoth ships can only be bought by Industrialists and above, and Imperial ships by Manufacturers and above.
ARMOR PLATING
Each extra point of armor costs 5,000 IG and weighs 10 tons.
SHIELDING
The basic shielding provides 10 units of strength, draws 10 units of power, weighs 10 tons, and costs 25,000 IG.
DRIVE UNITS
Drive units are not the same as engines, which you specify later in the ordering process. They are installed automatically, cost 25% of the cost of the hull, and weigh 15% of the weight of the hull.
WEAPONS
Type | Weight (tons) |
Power | Cost (ig) | |
Missile rack Laser Twin laser Quad laser |
10 6 10 18 |
0 15 30 80 |
8,000 40,000 75,000 140,000 |
All prices include fire control equipment. Missile racks need ammunition, purchased separately from a weapons shop. They also need magazines to store the actual missiles - see later.
The figure for Power is the drain the weapons will have on the ship's power units when they are fired.
COMPUTERS
Seven levels of computer are available:
Level | Intelligence Requirement |
Capacity | Weight | Power | Cost (ig) |
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 |
15 30 45 60 75 90 120 |
3 6 8 10 12 13 15 |
1 1 2 2 3 3 5 |
2 2 3 4 6 8 10 |
20,000 55,000 80,000 200,000 500,000 1,200,000 2,500,000 |
Capacity refers to the number of jammers and/or sensors the computer can control.
JAMMERS
Each jammer costs 800ig, weighs 3 tons and uses 5 units of power.
SENSORS
Each sensor costs 1,000ig, weighs 2 tons and uses 5 units of power.
POWER PLANTS
These are engines which actually power your ship, including the weapons and shields. Power plants cost 10,000 IG plus 15 times the plant's power output.
FUEL TANKS
Fuel tanks cost 50ig times the capacity, and they take up space depending on their size. The minimum size is 20 tons, and the maximum is 20 tons less than the remaining space in your ship.
MAGAZINE
If you buy a missile rack you will need to buy a magazine in which to store the missiles, specifying at the time of purchase the capacity. Magazines cost 1,000ig, plus 100 times the capacity. Their weight in tons is the capacity plus 40.
CARGO HOLD
The space remaining after everything has been added to the ship is the cargo space you can use for shipping goods. The hold must be at least 20 tons.
