Q: How do I set up an account for Fed2?
A: When you log on to Fed, you will be asked for your account ID. To set up a new account type NEW and you will be asked to provide an ID and password. These can be anything you like, so long as you can remember them, because you are going to have to type them in every time you play Fed2 so that we can identify you and nobody else can play your game character.
You also have to give us your current email address.
If you are using FedTerm as your game front-end, then before you connect to the game, type the details of the account and character you want to use into the New Account and Avatar Set up box (on the Connect menu) and the program will set up the account and character for you.
Q: Can I use my old classic Fed account to play Fed2?
No. The accounts databases for the two games are completely separate, and anyway, when classic Fed's hardware finally died, we couldn't save any of the data from it.
Q: Why do you want my email address?
A: We don't want any other personal information from you - name, address, social security number, bank details, shoe size, nothing like that - so we use your email address as the method of identifying you. Besides, if anything goes wrong with your account, we need to know how to contact you. We call this your registered email address.
Q: Won't I get lots of junk mail?
A: Absolutely not! We will never give your email address to anyone else, or allow anybody else to send mail to our mailing list. We feel so strongly about this that we have a privacy policy which sets out our promise.
We will only use your email address if there are problems with your account, or if there is information about the game that you need to know when you reach a certain rank, or a certain stage in a puzzle.
Q: What do I do once I have set up an account?
A: You start playing! Click here for details of how to get started.
Q: Can I have more than one Fed2 character?
A: Yes, you simply have to go and set up another account. One account entitles you to one game character, but there is no limit on the number of accounts you can have.
Q: Can I have more than one character logged onto Fed2 at once?
A: Yes, you just have to fire up another copy of the front-end program you are using. FedTerm lets you store the logon details for an unlimited number of characters, although using two copies at once can mess up the logging. However, you should not have more than five characters on at the same time.
Q: How do I cancel my Fed2 account?
A: Now that Fed is free, there is no need to cancel your Fed2 account. If you want to stop playing Fed, just stop! For more details, see the page about leaving Fed2.
Q: How do I change my password?
A: To change your password, use the command 'UPDATE PASSWORD newpassword' where 'newpassword' is what you want to have as your new password. Passwords must be between 8 and 15 characters, and can only contains letters and numbers.
Q: When I log onto Fed2 it says the ID or password is incorrect.
A: There are several different reasons why this might happen:
- You have forgotten your account ID or your password.
- Your front-end software is sending the wrong ID or password.
To find out which one it is, try logging into the game manually, by typing your ID and password in yourself, rather than letting your front-end log you in automatically, and see if it works. If it does, then the problem is with the front-end; if it does not, then the problem is with your ID or password itself.
Q: I have forgotten my password and/or ID!
If you forget either your ID or your password - or both - then email feedback@ibgames.com and ask for help. Give the name of your Fed2 character, and we'll send you the details.
Q: I have got a new email address - how do I change it on your database?
A: To change your registered email address, use the command 'UPDATE EMAIL newemail' where 'newemail' is what you what you want the email address to be changed to. Check what you set it to with 'DISPLAY EMAIL'.
Q: I have lost my password but I don't have the same email address any more.
A: Under normal circumstances, we will only send account details to the registered email address. This is a security measure to prevent anyone from stealing your account. However if you can prove to us that you really do own the account, then we will sort the account out for you. Email feedback@ibgames.com with the Fed2 character name and ask for help.
