ROLE-PLAYING CLASS Friday February 3 by Catspaws The topic for the class this week was The Role of Role-playing at Parties in Fed. For most, the pubs are the most basic and widely used role-play venues. It is our chance to display our character (or lack thereof) to others, and to make new friends. By the way, we need more parties. Parties are generally the first chance most of us get to display the individual personalities of our characters, and how we make good (or bad) impressions on others. Even the drinks we order can be a good way to impress others. For example:
One thing I usually tell new players when we meet in a bar is to design a signature drink. Role-playing is what makes a good party. Otherwise you have a bunch of people sitting around typing BUY ROUND all night.
We showed off our bartending skills for a while, and I must say, some of the students make great bartenders! But it's not only important to be a creative bartender, it's also important to add your personality into how you imbibe those drinks, and how well you 'handle your liquor.' So, we've got good drinks, and we know how to drink them. What else makes a good party? Suggestions ranged from balloons, to party games, to entertainment to Lucky Louie, which is a game that is available in every bar. See the bar games section of the Idiot's Guide for details about how to play Lucky Louie. Something else to pay attention to at parties is the decor. This bar, for example, has several unique role-playing tools - the fountain, the piano, and of course, Diesel and her bat. Felines will love to watch the robotic fish in the fountain, while at the same time not getting close enough to get wet. The fountain is also a target during brawls or drunken staggers. I can picture a couple meeting here, getting a bit tipsy, dancing to the piano, and slipping up to the roof for a first kiss. At this point we got side-tracked by a demonstration of role-play items, such as the piano in Diesels (and groping Diesel), and the portable items - the top hat, the tap shoes, the butterfly net, and the catnip. We had so much fun with that, our time was up for this week. Thanks to everyone who attended, and hopefully we'll see more parties soon. The next class will be held on February 17, which is five days before my birthday, so everyone, BRING PRESENTS! |
