A LORD AND HIS LADY - A ROMANCE LOST Final Chapter by Jessecka Shortly after the Sol link was up and running again, links to other worlds began to appear. It wasn't long before a link was establish to the war torn Dilconia, in the midst of a bloody battle for government control. After the disappearance of the beloved Lord Furgas, the human population had risen up in arms, trying to overthrow the royal family that was governing in the Lord's absence. As hardships grew, and the planet was totally secluded from the worlds around it, the economy had taken a turn for the worse and many had died of starvation. The struggle continued for 200 years, with a small amount of humans still loyal to the vampires lending their aid to the royal family. On their return, Lord Furgas and Lady Rowan toured their war ravaged homeland, and wept at the loss of life, both human and vampire. Lord Furgas set forth to end the bloody struggle and bring peace back to Dilconia. Working tirelessly side by side, the couple met with leaders of both sides, finally forming the Dilconia Ruling Council, with Lord Furgas as leader. With the war finally calming down, Lord Furgas could look to rebuilding the economy of his beloved Dilconia. Lady Rowan focused on creating her company as her husband sank deeper and deeper into his precious Dilconia, often found sleeping at his desk with production reports scattered around him. Sullen and withdrawn, Lord Furgas had the weight of his world on his shoulders. In a surprise decision by the Ruling Council, it was decided that Dilconia could not recognize the union between Lord Furgas and his Lady Rowan. For one, it was a union made on Earth, not the homeworld. And second, Lady Rowan was still considered a banned citizen, since she had been exiled before the Link went down over 200 years before. Rowan urged Furgas to plead her case with the Council, to stand up for her and their marriage on Earth. Lord Furgas, however, still deep into the rebuilding of Dilconia's fragile economy, felt that the easiest route to take would be to just remarry on Dilconia, as well as pardoning her at the same time. Lady Rowan felt affronted by the apparent lack of feeling from her master, that he didn't care enough about their vows on Earth to stand up for them. Lord Furgas, in his distraction, didn't realize just how unhappy his Lady was with him. He didn't actually mean any harm with his idea, but at the time didn't think it through quite as well as maybe he should have. Lady Rowan filed for a divorce on Earth, and removed her belongings to her new office on another planet. Lord Furgas, hurt by her actions, swore never to pardon her from her banned status, and the Ruling Council backed his decision. Lady Rowan, aching anew with the most recent lose of her homeworld, retreated in seclusion. Tormented by memories of his Lady, Lord Furgas threw all his efforts into rebuilding Dilconia, almost never leaving his beloved world. And so one of the Universe's most powerful romances comes to a close, with each side tortured with thoughts of what was, agonizing over what could have been, and lamenting love lost. |
