![]() ON THE WEB: THE VISIBLE EARTH NASA has made some of its amazing hi-res pictures of the planet Earth available on the web. The pictures come from a collection of satellite-based observations, and the web site has preview images which link to the full resolution versions which are up to 21,600 pixels across. Most of the information in these stunning pictures comes from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer which is on board the Terra satellite, about 430 miles up.
