NEW LOOK TO IBGAMES WEB SITE

If you looked at the ibgames web site in the last day or so you will have noticed that it looks different. The front page of the site has had a complete makeover, designed to make it a lot easier for players - both first-time visitors and old hands - to find what you need. Plus, there's a spiffy new graphic on the page which is much more relevant to Fed than the old one was, with the welcome return of Selena of the Spaceways as one of the faces of Fed, and an updated graphic for the Fed2 Star logo.

The other pages on the site have also been revamped, with a new graphic and menu bar, a different font, and a color change to the background.

In fact, the make-over is not just skin-deep. For those that know anything about HTML, I have changed the pages so that they now use cascading style sheets to determine the look-and-feel. I've also switched from using Microsoft Front Page to Dreamweaver.

This change has meant that I have had to remake each page. No, I didn't have to retype all the text, I was able to cut and paste it from the old pages into the new, but even so it was a mammoth job since we have a huge site! In fact, it's a job that I haven't finished yet, because there are sections of the web site that haven't yet been converted to the new style. I hope to get the rest of the pages done by next weekend.

I have been working on this massive project for weeks, but all the hard work will be worth it, because using style sheets means that in future any changes I want to make to the web site can be done easily. Pages designed this way are also more efficient and will load into your browser quicker.

The downside is... I may have made some mistakes. To be honest, I would be astonished if there were no mistakes! If you find anything odd while browsing through the ibgames web site, please let me know. Things that might go wrong include bits of text that still use the old font (Brookman Old Style) instead of the new font (Ariel); bits of text that seem to be in the wrong size; and links that don't work.

The structure of the web site has not changed; mostly, if a page existed in the old site it will still exist in the new one, so if you have specific pages book-marked you shouldn't have any problems. In theory!
