FEDPARDY!

Tuesday, October 10
by Fancy-Fancy, Engineer of Toontown

Four players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's game of Fedpardy. Karaathvanja, Emie, Genike, and Liakell came to play tonight, with Axel and Kblackdragon watching on the channel. I went over the rules of the game and verified everyone understood them. Then I revealed the categories for tonight. They were: The N Word, Knit one, Pearl two, Who's Who in Fed 2, and The House Special. The players then spun the wheel in the studio for the right to control the board first, and Kara got that honor. She selected The N Word for 5 points, and the game was underway.

Emie rang in on that first answer and gave the correct question to it for 5 points. She then promptly scooped up the 4 point answer after Kara missed it, and the 2-pointer in Who's Who after Genike missed it. Kara and Genike then both missed on the 2-point answer from the Pearl category, and Emie picked up those points as well, and then 2 more in The House Special. Genike and Kara then worked on clawing their ways back, with Ike scoring the 3 and 2 in N, only to miss on the 1, which Kara then got. Emie suffered her first miss on the 5 point answer from the Pearl category, but still led at the break with 10 points, to 0 for Genike, and -5 for Kara.

Kara got to select first in Double Fedpardy, as the one trailing going into it. She selected Who's Who for 8 to start off the round, and Liakell rang in to get that one and get on the scoreboard and take control of the board. Emie was first to ring in on the 2-point answer and identify Catspaws correctly for the points. Everyone passed on trying the 6 point answer from Pearl, but Emie collected the 6 from House Special, and then scooped up the 2 as well after Ike couldn't come up with it. Emie then found the first of the Daily Doubles in House Special. With a 20-8 lead over her nearest competitor, she decided to risk 5 points on the Daily Double, and this was her answer:

The most popular of this establishment's alien foodstuffs are the sea creatures swimming in a large tank.

Emie couldn't come up with the name of it, though (Godot's Snacks), so that cost her 5 points. She still had the selection, though, and picked the Pearl for 2, and got it. Her next selection uncovered the other Daily Double. Emie decided to risk 2 points on this one, and received this answer in Knit one, Pearl two:

The actual name of the station is Yohkoh XVIII, a Japanese word for this. The people who work there are referred to by the same term.

Emie responded with "What is sunlight?" Oh, so close, but it was SunBEAM. That left us with a couple answers in Who's Who. Liakell scored the 6 pointer, and Genike rang in on the last answer on the board, the 10-pointer, in an effort to get out of the hole, but couldn't come up with the right name. Liakell rang in and did, though, to pick up 10 more points and take the lead at the end of Double Fedpardy. The scores then were:

Liakell 24
Emie 15
Kara -5
Genike -12

Liakell and Emie advanced to Final Fedpardy, with the opportunity to bet as many of their points as they desired, based on the category, which tonight was Objects and Mobiles. Liakell and Emie both decided and registered their bets, and when I verified they were both ready, revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer and gave them 60 seconds in which to respond to:

It is possible to end up feeding this creature, by attempting to feed a different one.

Emie responded with, "What is a miniature grizzle?" That, however, was incorrect. Her wager was all 15 of her points, leaving her with none.

Liakell's response was, "What is Catspaws?" But the correct response to this answer was, "What is a marsrat?" (ever offered the zoo fodder to the cat on Mars?) Liakell's wager was zero points, so she stayed at 24, and that made her this week's Fedpardy champion!

Congratulations to Liakell as this week's Fedpardy champion, and Emie as our runner-up. Thanks to all for coming out to play and cheering on our players from afar. Our next exciting edition of Fedpardy is on October 24, beginning at 10.00pm eastern. And don't forget the Fed Phrase Game on the 17th, also starting at 10.00pm eastern, also in Studio 1 on the Lattice. Join me then for exciting game show events on Tuesday nights.
