MORE GUIDANCE ON USING THE NOTICEBOARDby HazedIn last week's Fed2 Star I gave a little guidance about the limits on using the electronic noticeboard to post messages. I explained that the important posts are the "top ten" - the ten most recent posts that shows up when you type 'READ'. The game rules specifically state that you should not repost your message later, in order to keep it in the top ten. This restriction means you should not add the "post a message" command to your log-on trigger or start-up f-key - if you do, then every time you log into the game, your message will be posted, even if you have just got punted or logged off briefly to reboot your computers. You can't get around this restriction by unposting your first message and then reposting, either. Yes, this means you never have more than one message on the board at a time, but it is still considered an abuse of the resource - it would only take ten players doing this to completely monopolise the board which would not be fair. So if you want to make a daily post advertizing your planet, requesting for factory space, or inviting players to join a particular comms channel every day, you can put it on an f-key to save yourself typing, but only hit that f-key once a day. You should not put it on a trigger than fires off automatically - it should be you who decides when to post the message, not your computer. |
