REAL LIFE NEWS: GENETIC ENGINEERING CAN BE FUN

by Hazed

In the UK people have been very resistant to the idea of genetically modified food, but a company in Florida has come up with a product that might just get through this reluctance, because it's a really neat idea. Duda Farm Fresh Foods has engineered celery stalks with hollow centres, so you can use them to sip Bloody Marys through, or hide cream cheese or other interesting fillings inside.

Celery is usually curved into a shape like half a cylinder; this new engineered stuff curves around so much that the edge join up, forming a hollow, straw-like shape.

The new celery swizzle-sticks should start showing up in restaurants and hotels in the US soon.
