PLEASE PUT SOME MONEY IN OUR SPACE HELMET

by Hazed

It's that time again where I put on a wheedling voice and an ingratiating posture, and ask you to dig into the pockets of your nano-chameleon suits to help us keep Fed2 going. The game is free to play, but it does cost us real dollars to run (computer hosting charges, network charges, and so on) and we rely on players buying enough slithy toves every month to cover those costs.

If you buy slithy toves you are not just being generous, and helping to keep the game we all love afloat. Slithies are tokens that can be exchanged in the game for a variety of goods and services. Some of them are very useful indeed, and some are entirely frivolous, but fun all the same. For example, one of the most useful is the navcomp upgrade which allows you to zoom between the Sol planets instantly - a boon to all players, but particularly to Commanders and Captains. Merchants and higher ranks will benefit from the various remote price checking facilities, from the simple single planet commodity check, up to the premium price ticker that gives you a price for something throughout the Galaxy. Planet owners can use slithies to increase your location allowance, or request a custom object/mobile or some events for your planet. There's a complete list of all the things you can do with slithy toves on the Gifts web page.

Have I convinced you yet? If so, then you will be reaching for your credit cards so you can buy some slithy toves, won't you? You have a choice here: you can make a one-off purchase of between 2 and 10 slithies, at a cost of $5 each, or you can take out a subscription to buy a chunk of slithies each month at a discount - for 8 UK pounds (about $16 at current rates) you get 4 slithies a month. You can do both options from the slithy tove web page.

You can also read more about what, exactly, slithy toves are and why they can be used as currency in Fed DataSpace by consulting the Encyclopedia Galactica.
