People do have a habit of leaving things on public transport. The Earth monorail has a lost property office where all the bizarre items abandoned on the train end up, and some of them are extremely strange. A recent list of the finds included: a box of prosthetic tentacles... an anti-grav unicycle... a single rocket-powered glove... a large bottle of zlitherworm saliva... an Algolian death-mask... and many more weird and wonderful things.

But as well as all this strangeness, the most common item left on the monorail is the humble umbrella. Which, given that we have weather control these days, is very odd! Maybe people use them as a fashion statement. Or maybe the umbrella is actually a sentient lifeform that breeds in the carriage.

When you walk into the monorail, there's a possibility that you will find an umbrella. If you do end up with one in your inventory, you'll be able to do a number of things with it: open or close it, or wield it. You can also drop it, but if you do, it'll get taken off to the lost property office so you lose it. But never mind, you can always take another monorail trip and maybe you'll pick up another one!
