FEDPARDY!

Three players joined me for tonight's game of FEDPARDY! Tenabutter, Implantguy, and Munabilo arrived in Studio 1 to play. All three were familiar with the rules, so we skipped right to tonight's categories, which were: Industrialist Scrooge, This Happens Where?, Out with the "Old", and In with the New. The spin of the wheel to determine who would get the first selection went to Tenabutter. She selected This Happens Where? for 1 to start, and the game was afoot.
Tenabutter and Implantguy both tried the answer, and both missed on giving the correct question. The same happened with the 2 point answer. So Tenabutter switched to Out with the "Old" for 1. She picked up the first positive point of the game on that one. Munabilo ended up running the rest of the category, including the 5 point answer which Tenabutter and Implantguy both tried and missed. Munabilo started In with the New for 1, and Implantguy got that one. He also rang in and got his next selection of This Happens Where? for 4. We finished up the first half with the 5 point answer in that category, which Implantguy tried, but got wrong. At the half, Munabilo led with 14 points to -7 for Tenabutter and -8 for Implantguy.
All remaining answers had their point values doubled for Double Fedpardy, and Implantguy, as the one trailing everybody, received the first selection in Double Fedpardy. He started the Industrialist Scrooge category for 2, but nobody tried that one. Implantguy then selected the 4 pointer and got it. With his next selection, he found the first Daily Double. With the opportunity to wager up to 10 points on it, he went for the full 10, with this being his answer:
If Scrooge wants to pay out as little in wages as possible, he'll undoubtedly love factories built to produce this commodity, with the fewest workers.
Implantguy responded, "What is props?", but the correct response, nanos, uses fewer still. Implantguy continued with Scrooge for 8, and Munabilo got that one, and then the 10 as well. Nobody attempted to respond to This Happens Where? for 6. That left In with the New. Tenabutter tried but missed on the 4. She got the 6 after both Munabilo and Implantguy tried and missed it. Munabilo got the 8 pointer, leaving the other Daily Double for Munabilo, who decided to risk 6 points on it. And this was the answer:
Whereas keeping out undesirables was treated as a game management issue in the old Fed, it is now handled and enforced by the game code with this command.
Munabilo responded, "what is block?", but the right command was exile. So at the end of Double Fedpardy, Munabilo had 28 points, Tenabutter -5, and Implantguy -20. So Munabilo alone advanced to Final Fedpardy.
Munabilo got the category of Sol Objects for tonight's Final Fedpardy to help decide its wager. When it was registered and I had given the customary instructions for Final Fedpardy and Munabilo verified it was ready, I revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:
This charm actually had a use - you could carve your initials into a certain table if you possessed one.
Munabilo's response was "what is a pocket knife?" A good guess, but not a correct one. The charm with the feature was the laser lighter, and the place it could be used was Knobs & Knockers. Munabilo bet big this time, risking all 28 points. But as it was the only Finalist, it still won this week's Fedpardy championship.
Congratulations to Munabilo, and thanks to Tenabutter and Implantguy for playing, and our audience of Cricket who tuned in to watch. Join us again on January 27 at 10.00pm eastern for our next FEDPARDY! And don't forget the Fed Phrase Game on the 20th.
