REAL LIFE NEWS: CAN'T GET A JOB? CHANGE YOUR FACE!

by Hazed

Times is 'ard, and many people have lost their jobs as the credit crunch forces companies to shed staff so as to leave enough money in the kitty to pay enormous bonuses to the top executives. Those who find themselves suddenly unemployed will grasp at any technique to try to find a new job.

Even, according to a report by Reuters, plastic surgery! Men and women in their 40s and 50s are going under the knife in order to look more youthful, so they can compete with younger adversaries when chasing after jobs.

The report interviewed several people who have done just this, including an LA music marketing exec who recently paid out $17,000 for a facelift, and explains, "I'm 56 and I've been in the music business for 35 years. We're not having a good year and I know I'll soon have to interview. The surgery made sense for me. I look at least 10 to 15 years younger and I have more confidence."

Meanwhile, a Manhattan surgeon says, "Men and women in their 40s and 50s are competing with peers 10 to 15 years younger and employers naturally tend to go to a person who looks fresher and younger, despite who is better qualified."

He said that "a lot of his patients view the surgery as an investment and are financing it with loans." The Reuters report notes that "Plastic surgery loans can involve financing charges of 12 to 19 per cent."

The thought just makes me shudder. I'd rather be unemployed that consider such extreme measures!
