REAL LIFE NEWS: SPACE UNDIES!by HazedA Japanese astronaut that has just returned from the ISS has handed his underpants over to scientists for tests - after wearing them for about a month. This was an experiment to test out the special high-tech undies, designed in Japan to be completely odor-free. The Japanese underwear is called J-Wear, and is a new type of anti-bacterial, water-absorbent, odor-eliminating clothing designed for space. The line also includes shirts, pants and socks. Koichi Wakata tested them all out during his sojourn on the ISS. As well as being odor-free, the cotton and polyester clothing is antistatic and flame retardant, which is a big bonus for wearing in space. It is also seamless which makes it a lot more comfortable. Wakata said on his return to Earth that his fellow crewmembers hadn't complained about him wearing the same undies for a month - so they must work. Presumably there will be a market for them amongst slobby men back on Earth, too! |
