SANTA IS COMING

It'll soon be Christmas, and Santa is making preparations to come back to Fed2 this year. He'll be setting up his grotto on Earth so that all the boys and girls can come and sit on his lap and tell him whether you've been naughty or nice - and get a candy cane or a lump of coal, as appropriate!

His lucky dip tub will have lots of toys in it, and you'll be able to ride on his sleigh to take a thrilling tour of Sol space.

Santa's Grotto will open on Thursday 24 December and stay until after the new year.

Can it be true that UK children won't be visited by Santa this year? It doesn't look likely that he'll be able to sneak down their chimneys. First, will he even be able to get into the country? The immigration service's new border controls may well turn him back. Even if he does manage to circumvent their stringent checks against illegal immigrants, he won't be able to go near any children because he hasn't been vetted by the new UK Independent Safeguarding Authority to ensure he's not a criminal or a pervert!

Meanwhile, back in Fed2 DataSpace...

There'll be decorations going up all around the Solar system too, including snow on the roof of Chez Diesel so you can have a snowball fight with your friends. And of course, Diesel will be serving up free drinks and a free Christmas dinner for all her customers.

Gallaghers will put their new charm on sale, which will have a seasonal theme.

And don't forget we're running a contest for POs to decorate a location or series of locations in your planet, and this year for the first time we'll be offering a technical prize to the person who makes the best use of events. Get designing!

How to Enter the Christmas Contest

Step one - add the decorations to your planet files.

Step two - submit the files to feedback@ibgames.com (with Fed2 in the subject line) to have them put into the game in the usual way.

Step three - check them in the game and make sure they work as you want them to. If necessary, submit new files.

Step four - once you're happy with the decorations, enter the contest - mail feedback@ibgames.com (with Fed2 Christmas Decorations in the subject line) and give the following:

• Your name
• Your system name
• The name of the planet or planets the decorations are on
• Directions from the LP to the location or locations where we'll find them

Closing day for entries is last thing on December 26. We'll send in the robot judges in the next few days and announce the winners on December 31.
