The French were the least likely to prefer hound over hubby, with only 10% of respondents choosing a furry friend over a human one, and residents of Turkey the most likely. But mostly, the differences were by age and income rather than nationality - with younger and poorer people choosing their pet rather than their person. Men and women were evenly split.
