FED PHRASE GAME

I got four players for the Fed Phrase Game this week - Gizmo, Squeeky, Caliban, and Haticusj all came in to Studio 1 to play. All of them knew how to play when I explained this is like the old Earth TV game show Wheel of Fortune, so we went right to setting the playing order. Caliban spun the highest number, followed by Squeeky and Haticusj tying for second-highest, and Gizmo with the lowest number. Squeeky ceded second in the order to Haitcusj, so the order went Caliban, Haticusj, Squeeky, and Gizmo.
The first puzzle was a 3 word phrase (10, 8, and 8 letters), and Caliban was up first to start it. However, he did so with a Bankrupt, and Haticus took over. She found a pair of T's to start, followed by three S's. Her turn came to an abrupt end when she bought an A, and there were none in the puzzle. Squeeky took over and added a bunch of letters - R, L, N's, E, U, H for a free spin, M, O, D, I, and C, before calling a missing K, then after using its free spin, a missing Y. Gizmo got a turn at the puzzle, spun 350, called G, and filled in the last four letters of the puzzle with it, then solved - disgorging incoming shuttles - to take Round 1 for 1400 points.
Tonight's second puzzle was 3 word things (7, 7, and 6 letters), and we were back to Caliban to start it. This time Caliban's first spin landed on Lose a Turn, and Haticus again took over. She started by finding three S's and a C, bought the A's, placed a pair of P's, then landed on 1000 and called L, but there were none, ending her turn. Squeeky found three T's, bought the E's, placed a pair of N's, an M, and bought the I, then tried to solve, but did so incorrectly. Gizmo spun once, again called G to fill in the last consonant, and then solved correctly to take Round 2 for 500 points.
Our third puzzle, and as it turned out, the last one we had time for tonight, was a 3 word phrase (10, 4, and 2 letters). Once again, we were back to Caliban in the order to start it. This time, Caliban actually got to call some letters. He found two T's, picked up a free spin with an S, tried buying an A, which wasn't in the puzzle, used his free spin and found an R and M, until a missing D ended his turn. Haticus found a pair of G's for 600 points, only to have it wiped out by a Bankrupt on her next spin. Squeeky found an N for 600, but no C's. Gizmo decided to go ahead and solve this puzzle:

and did, as "everything must go" for a house minimum 250 points.
That brought us to the end of our hour, and with a sweep of the puzzles, Gizmo was this week's big winner with a total of 2150 points. I had also decided this week to award a slithy tove to the winner, and awarded her that prize.
