PAGE 1 LOST AND FOUNDby HazedLast week, page 1 of the Fed2 Star got lost. I sent it out at the same time as pages 2 and 3, but while they made their way out onto the net and into your mailboxes, page 1 got stuck somewhere and didn't make it. I wondered if it was taking the scenic route, travelling the information superhighway and hopping all around the world. Or perhaps the internet postman had dropped it somewhere along the way, so that it didn't get delivered. The answer turned out to be more prosaic. Google (who run our mailing lists) thought it was spam! But it took them 36 hours to get around to telling me, as the moderator of the Fed2 Star mailing list, that the message had been blocked as potential spam. As soon as they did so, I went and clicked on the button that told them that no, it wasn't spam, and the missing page was duly delivered. I am not sure it was worth waiting for, because the main article consisted of my excuses why it was a very short bulletin... I am still mystified about what, exactly, it was that made Google think my official news last week was spam. I can't see anything in it that looks like it - I wasn't trying to sell you anything to make bits of your body expand, or to extort money from you (that comes in the next article!), or encourage you to click on a dodgy link that would get you infected. It's a mystery. It shouldn't happen again, though, because I have now instructed Google to let through any emails from me. |
