REAL LIFE NEWS: PHONE THIEF NABBED IN RECORD TIME

I've featured stories before where thieves who steal tech items have been caught thanks to various tracking devices or software installed on said devices. But this story sets a record for the speedy recovery of stolen goods. Not to mention the rapid apprehension of the thief.

Horatio Toure, 31 years old, was riding a bicycle through the streets of San Francisco recently when he pedalled up to a woman and plucked her iphone out of her hands. He would have got away with this theft, too, if it wasn't for the fact that the phone was equipped with GPS software and, at the very moment he stole it, was being used to demonstrate an app allowing real-time tracking of devices on a computer.

So the owner of the phone, David Kahn, was able to tell police exactly where the stolen phone was, and follow the thief's movements as he made his getaway. It took just 10 minutes for officers of the law to catch up with the criminal, arrest him, and retrieve the stolen phone.

As Kahn said, "This reminds me of the bank robber who arrives during the security test."
