REAL LIFE NEWS: HOAX KIDNAPPING GETS KIDS INTO TROUBLEby HazedFour teenage boys decided they wanted to get some instant fame on YouTube, and get some laughs, so they cooked up a prank they thought was hilarious. Unfortunately, it got taken seriously by police and ended in trouble. Their jolly jape took place in the carpark of the Kmart in Whitehall one Sunday night a few weeks ago. They had prepared: three of them had taken some plastic food wrap and wrapped up the fourth, covering him from his shoulders to his waist. They dropped him near the front of the store, let him walk around a bit - trussed up with clingfilm - then turned the car around and put him into the trunk. So far, so hilarious. But someone at the Kmart didn't get the joke. She called 911 and reported that she'd seen a group tie up a man, throw him in a trunk and speed off. So the police gave chase and two miles outside of town, seven cruisers surrounded the car and, with weapons drawn, approached it. At that point, before they could open the trunk of the car, the "victim" shouted out, "It's a joke! It's a joke!" Police were not amused, and neither were the parents of the boys. The foursome have all been charged with disorderly conduct - and have been grounded for six months. And the best part of all this? They didn't even get a video on YouTube: all four had wanted to be involved in the fake kidnap, and nobody would agree to hold the camera! |
