REAL LIFE NEWS: THE ROBBERS THAT SUCKEDby HazedWhile on the subject of robberies, thieves used ordinary household objects to clean out a supermarket safe in France recently, making off with 500,000 Euros (around $674,000). The burglars exploited a flaw in the security system of Monoprix, a supermarket chain that has been targetted 15 times in recent years. Thieves broke into the building then once in the premises, they drilled a small hole in the "pneumatic tube" used to transport money from the checkout to the strong room, poked a vacuum cleaner hose down the hole, and sucked out all the cash! This ingenious method means they didn't have to blow open the safe, or break its locks. Police said, "It is clearly time Monoprix addressed this loophole and changed the way it guards its money." Too right! |
