REAL LIFE NEWS: GAMES MARATHON ENDS IN DEATHby HazedAnother story now of a death caused by excessive computer-gaming. A Beijing man died after a three-day online gaming marathon, during which he didn't sleep at all, and barely ate. The unnamed 30-year-old collapsed in an internet cafe on the outskirts of the city, and could not be revived. In the month before his death, he had apparently spent 10,000 yuan (about $1,520) feeding his gaming habit. Authorities have introduced curbs to try to tackle the problem of internet gaming addiction, but it's estimated that tens of millions of Chinese people - many of them teenagers - are hooked on their games. Mind you, that sounds like a lot, but in a population of just over 1.3 billion it's not quite as high as it first sounds! |
