A CLEANING DROID OF MY VERY OWN

Ever since I started reading science fiction as a teenager, I have been thrilled by the idea of robots. In particular, I loved all the ways in which these fictional robots could make things easier around the house.

Robot butlers, household helpers and cleaning droids - what marvellous ideas!

As I grew older and moved out of the parental home, I became responsible for cleaning, and I discovered how much I hate housework. So I dreamed about those droids that could take the burden off my shoulders. Surely it wouldn't be long until technology caught up with imagination?

But it's only in recent years that my dreams have started to come true.

When my vacuum cleaner broke recently, and I had to buy a replacement, it was finally time to fulfil my life-long dream. Yes, I bought myself a robot vacuum cleaner - my very own cleaning droid - in the shape of the Roomba from iRobot.

It's so exciting!
