ALAN’S TO-DO LIST
by Hazed
I thought I would give you a peek at the list of Fed projects Alan has on the go at the moment.
Top of the list is to solve the mystery of the sporadic crashes - although that’s rather on hold until some more information comes in that will help him pin-point the cause.
So while he waits for inspiration, he’s working on a number of different things.
He has resumed work on the event editor, to add in all the extra scripts that will enable players to write puzzles for your planets. Now, you might wonder why this is important, given that you can count the number of players who are interested in writing events on the suckers of one tentacle. But the reason it needs to be done is that Alan and I both want to put some more puzzles in, and we need a fully-featured event editor in order to do that. The fact that players will also be able to use it if they want to get creative is a bonus.
Alan and I are also discussing what is needed to allow players to auto-link their second and subsequent planets into the game, so that those who can’t (or don’t want to) use the workbench don’t have to. I am particularly keen to get this functionality into the game because right now I do the work for the workbench-averse players!
Work also continues on a rewrite of the FedTerm front-end. It needs to be updated so it is more compatible with Windows 7 and 8. There are also new features to be added such as a cartel screen.
None of these projects are quick so you won’t see results right away, but I will keep you posted on their progress in future issues of the Star.
