NEW SEARCH FEATURE FOR MAP EDITOR
by Hazed
Alan is continuing his work on the new version of the map editor, part of the Fed2 Workbench which players can use to design their own planet. He’s almost done now, with all the functionality in place, and is working on a final piece of code to add a brand new feature: a search function.
This will allow you to search for two things: a string of characters contained in the title or description of the locations on the map, and locations which have a particular property set on them.
Here’s what a search for bar locations on Earth looks like:
So if you want to find any location where you mention the name of the planet’s local hero Zgrathra, or if you can’t remember where you put the trading exchange, you will find this very useful.
As always, I don’t know when the editor will be ready for release. Once Alan has finished with it, he’ll turn it over to me for testing – and I am sure to find some things that need to be fixed (I hesitate to use the word bugs...) Maybe I will be able to spend some time over next weekend’s holiday on the testing.
I’ll keep you posted on the progress.
