REAL LIFE NEWS: BIGFOOT DNA TURNS OUT TO BE ORDINARY ANIMALS
by Hazed
Does Bigfoot exist? Well, not if the results of recent DNA tests are anything to go by. Sorry, folks, but once again science is being a spoilsport.
Professor Bryan Sykes wanted to prove the existence of the possibly mythical beast, so he and his colleagues put out a call for samples of Bigfoot hair which they could run through DNA testing. They received 57 samples.
Not all of these were usable – 20 turned out to be non-animal substances (glass or plants) or were otherwise not suitable for analysis. That left them with 37 samples. Surely one of them would prove that Bigfoot was real!
Sadly, no. All turned out to match known species. One was even human hair! There were four samples from horses, four from wolves or dogs, and some from deer, porcupines and even cows.
Of course, absence of evidence is not the same as evidence of absence, and it’s still possible that the creature variously known as Bigfoot, Sasquatch, the Abominable Snowman and the Yeti are real… but frankly I doubt it. In these days of ubiquitous mobile phones with super-mega-giga-pixel cameras, it’s less and less likely that such things can stay hidden.
