TRANSPORT OF THE WEEK: THE BACON BIKE
by Hazed
There are many ways to fuel a vehicle if you want to avoid using gasoline. Alternative fuel sources such as hydrogen, natural gas, ethanol or used cooking oils can all be used. But one you may not have thought of is bacon grease.
An actor called Eric Pierson did think of it, though, and he used the unusual fuel to power his motorcycle in order to attend the Bacon Fest and Film Festival in San Diego last weekend.
He worked with bacon company Hormel Foods and a biodiesel company to refine the grease left over from cooking bacon. Read about the process of making the bacon-fuelled bike here.
