VIDEO OF THE WEEK: DANCING LAMPSHADES
by Hazed
Here’s a charming film about an electrician whose workshop is suddenly filled with flying, dancing lampshades. But what makes this amazing is that it’s not done using animation or CGI – the lampshades are all being “played” by quadcopters. The copters are controlled by a computer which allows precision movement that wouldn’t be possible with a human pilot, which is how they can dance in formation.
The film was choreographed by Cirque du Soleil and it’s a wonderful example of how new technology and creativity can combine to produce something magical.
Watch the film of the dancing lampshades here. There’s also a “behind the scenes” video which explains how it was done.
