REAL LIFE NEWS: WIRELESS TEDDY MONITORS BABY’S HEALTH
by Hazed
Taking the idea of a baby monitor to a new level, doting parents can now buy a teddy bear that will transmit the child’s vital signs to a smartphone.
The clever stuff is in one of the bear’s paws. When the toddler squeezes it for four seconds, a sensor will record its heart rate, oxygen levels and body temperature.
As a visual aid, teddy also has a “glowing heart that is linked directly to the sensor and beats at the same rhythm as your child’s heart. If your young ones temperature changes, Teddy’s heart changes colour, giving you instant visual feedback of your child’s well being”.
Sounds lovely. But all this tech comes at a price – this teddy costs $499. It also goes by the name Teddy The Guardian, which makes it sound a lot more violent than it really is.
