REAL LIFE NEWS: HOW TO UNBOIL AN EGG
by Hazed
You can’t put a broken egg back together again, as all the king’s horses and all the king’s men discovered after Humpty Dumpty had his terrible accident.
And once an egg has been boiled, you can’t turn it back into a raw egg again. Well… you couldn’t… but now, chemists have found a way to unboil an egg.
Chemists from University of California, Irvine and South Australia’s Flinders University used a urea substance to liquefy boiled egg white, by pulling apart tangled proteins and allowing them to refold.
This may sound like a useless achievement, but actually the process used could lead to dramatically reduced costs for cancer treatment, as well as good production and all areas of biotechnology related to proteins.
