REAL LIFE NEWS: SEE, I TOLD YOU COFFEE WAS GOOD FOR YOU!
by Hazed
It’s good for you – no, it’s bad for you – wait, it’s good for you after all! There are certain products whose reputations seem to undergo a regular change. Alcohol and chocolate are always cropping up in media reports telling us that they are, or are not, good for us after all. And now it’s the turn of coffee.
Korean researchers have announced that drinking a few cups of coffee every day could help you to avoid clogged arteries.
The study looked at more than 25,000 employees, both men and women, who were given routine health checks at their workplaces. They found that those who drank three to five cups of coffee a day were less likely to show early signs of heart disease.
This flies in the face of earlier studies, which suggested coffee consumption gave rise to heart risk factors such as raised cholesterol or blood pressure, but it agrees with other studies which did suggest the drink might offer some heart protection.
It’s all very confusing, and there is no conclusive evidence one way or the other. So that makes this a typical health story!
