REAL LIFE NEWS: MARTIAN SAND DUNES SNAPPED BY CURIOSITY
by Hazed
We’re being inundated by top quality pictures from around the Solar System right now – Ceres, Venus and Pluto have all been revealing their secrets as the images taken by the spaceships Dawn, Akatsuki and New Horizon respectively are beamed back to Earth.
Adding to the gallery is Curiosity which continues to trundle around on Mars. This week NASA released some incredible images it has taken of Martian sand dunes.
The pictures show the Namib Dune, which is about 5 metres tall, and the flat pains which surround it. It looks just like a scene from an Earth desert, but when Curiosity gets close enough to examine it in detail we’ll be able to see the differences between desert landscapes on the two planets.
