EXCUSE OF THE WEEK: IT’S NOT A MISTAKE, IT’S ART!
by Hazed
What do you do when you make a mistake? You can own up, admit that you messed up, and do something to fix the problem.
Or you can claim that you meant to do that all along. The programmer’s cliché is that “it’s not a bug, it’s a feature”. Now we can add another one: “It’s an art installation.”
That’s the excuse used by the council in the north London borough of Haringey.
They erected some bike stands outside Turnpike Lane tube station which were not actually usable. When a local resident complained to the council about the bodge job, the council replied: “The recycled bike racks have now been installed not to be used as cycle stands. The works have been implemented to the agreed design as a piece of public art.”
Brilliant! From now on, anything I do wrong will be labelled as art.
