REAL LIFE NEWS: RUSSIAN ROBOT RUNAWAY REACHES ROAD, CAUSES TRAFFIC JAM

An escaped robot caused a traffic jam in a Russian city recently. Its human masters had been teaching it to move around independently – so I guess they succeeded!
Scientists at the Promobot Laboratories in Perm forgot to shut a gate and that allowed the robot to break free and head for the outside world. It covered a distance of about 50m and ended up on a nearby street before its battery ran out. It then sat in the middle of the road, causing an obstruction to traffic.
Following the incident, the robot was reprogrammed to stop its runaway tendencies, but the modifications didn’t work – because it escaped again, several times.
The scientists are now planning to scrap the poor robot. They say that the other robots which have been created from the same series are well-behaved, and have not been escaping. So this poor plucky little bot has been showing too much initiative, and is going to be junked.
