WHY YOU SHOULD READ THE BOARD WHEN YOU LOG ON
by Hazed
For the last few weeks, Alan has been mumbling about taking a full offsite backup of the game files. But he can only do that when Fed is not running, so it means he has to hold the game down at reset so it doesn’t automatically fire up again. In practical terms, it means the reset will last 5 to 10 minutes instead of just a few seconds.
The trouble is, I’ve been unable to pin him down about exactly when he’s going to do it, so I can’t warn you in advance.
However, you will be able to find out by reading the noticeboard in the game, because Alan will post a message before the game shuts down, warning you of the impending long reset.
So make sure you check the board regularly. At the very least you should read it every time you log on. You could use FedTerm’s startup commands to automatically send a ‘READ’ command to the game.
That way you have less chance of missing important announcements.
