DUMB PASSENGER OF THE WEEK: LATE FOR FLIGHT, SO HE CALLS IN BOMB THREAT

Michael Howells is about to start a 12 month jail sentence thanks to his really dumb behaviour: he called in a bomb threat because he was going to be late for his flight.
His hoax happened in 2014. He was heading for the airport to catch a flight from Kelowna, BC, but knew he wouldn’t make it in time. So he phoned the airport and gave an anonymous bomb threat, claiming that the plane he was due to fly on had been rigged with explosives. He thought the search of the plane would delay the flight for long enough for him to get to the airport.
And it did. But while he was waiting in the lounge for the delayed flight, police traced the call to his phone. Then, as the airport was being evacuated, he approached the cops to ask if his flight had been cancelled – and was promptly arrested.
His stupidity doesn’t end there, because as well as making the false bomb threat, when he was arrested he was found with heroin and methamphetamine. Oh dear!
