NEWSDROIDS RETURN FROM THEIR TUNE-UP

The newsdroids are trundling around the office, happy and efficient in their work. They spent the last few weeks at the factory being checked for anomalies and they were given a clean bill of health. They have had their software upgraded to the latest version (droid 10.6 with the news reporter module enabled).
They are still going to have to be tested every couple of months to make sure they continue to run smoothly. In particular, the boffins are keen to monitor the performance of their morphing softskin casing, a brand new development. In return for allowing my droids to beta test it, I got them at a vastly reduced price.
So far they haven’t had to use the morphing function in the course of their work, since they have been confined to the Fed2 Star offices on Earth, but they have been trying out various different colour schemes. Thing1 rather likes acting like a chameleon and taking on the look of whatever background it is standing against, which can make it hard to find at times. Thing2 favours bold colourful looks, but I had to put my foot down when it turned up sporting a fluorescent pink and orange spotted pattern. That really hurt my eyes.
I am rather flattered that Thing3 modifies its appearance to match whatever I happen to wearing each day. You certainly can’t fault its taste.
When I send the newsdroids out on assignment, the ability to change their appearances to blend in with whoever or whatever they are investigating will be invaluable. For now, though, they have to content themselves with just using the new technology for fashion.
