REAL LIFE NEWS: ANTI-DROID BIRD SQUAD GROUNDED

A while back I told you about several projects where birds of prey were being used to take down drones. Now one of those projects has been canned because the birds are not reliable.
The Dutch police had a theory that, “the bird sees the drone as prey and takes it to a safe place, a place where there are no other birds or people.” But after buying the chicks and hiring handlers to train them, the police found that once outside their training area the birds just flew where they wanted to go.
The eagles have now been retired and the Dutch police are looking for new ways to deal with rogue drones.
