James diGriz, otherwise known as Slippery Jim, is the star of the Stainless Steel Rat books by Harry Harrison. They tell the story of a cosmic criminal, the smoothest, sneakiest con-man in the known Universe, who can break into any bank in the Galaxy, con a captain out of his ship, start a war or stop one - whichever pays the most!
The books are funny and exciting, a wonderful adventurous romp through the universe. I love the Stainless Steel Rat books and I keep going back to re-read them again and again. They are witty and intelligent, poking fun at action-adventure type stories.
