FED2TERM MANUAL - GETTING STARTED

LOGGING ON TO FEDERATION 2

In order to play Federation 2 you need access to the Internet through your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Log onto the Internet and then start Fed2Term. Select the 'Connect' menu item and click on 'Log On To Fed' or click the button on the toolbar. This will bring up the connect box, which allows you to enter your Fed2 account ID and password. If you don't already have an account, see below for how to set one up.

Note that when you type the password, you will not see what you type on the screen; instead you will see a row of asterisks. Your password will never be displayed on the screen, as a security measure.

The top two parts of the connect box should already be set to the name of the computer on which Federation runs - federation.ibgames.net - and the telnet port number - 23. Do NOT change them, or the front-end will not be able to find the Federation machine.

You can also type in the name of your Fed character, which will then show up in the title bar of the program when you are logged on, to remind you which character you are playing - this is optional.

When you have entered the account ID and password, click on the 'Connect' button, and the front end will connect to the game and log you on with the account ID and password you specified.

When you enter the actual game, the first thing Fed2Term does is to update the player list; you cannot type any commands until this is complete.
