ON THE WEB: ANOTHER PICTURE OF IAPETUSby HazedAfter last weeks picture of the moon Iapetus, taken by the Cassini spacecraft, which showed its two-toned surface, how about a close-up of this very strange Saturnian moon? This image was taken about a month ago from about 4,000 kilometres out and allows objects under 2100-metres across to be seen, so the landscape shows craters, sloping hills, and mountains as high as 10 kilometres. Take a look at http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap070919.html. |
