REAL LIFE NEWS: FAST FOOD ICE IS NOT SO NICE

Put down the soft drink cup. Stop drinking immediately. Don’t you realise how dangerous it is? Why, the ice could be contaminated!
A student from Florida has just won first place in a science fair by showing why you should avoid the ice in fast food restaurants - because it contains more bacteria from water in the toilets!
Jasmine Roberts visited five fast food joints to collect samples. She ordered cups of ice and put them into sterile beakers, and then went into restrooms, flushed the toilets once, and collected a sample of the water.
Back at the lab, she tested the samples for bacteria.
The result?
“I found that 70 percent of the time, the ice from the fast food restaurant’s contain more bacteria than the fast food restaurant’s toilet water,” she said.
Ewwwww.
One reason for this is that while toilets are cleaned regularly, ice machines are not.
Jasmine won $800 for this excellent work. I don’t think she’s going to spend it on fast food!
