REAL LIFE NEWS: CONNECTED DOGS
by Hazed
If your dog is feeling poorly it can’t tell you, and it can be difficult to tell that it’s under the weather. So this new innovation will be of benefit to dog owners. It’s a smart collar that monitors the pooch’s vital signs and alerts the owner if any of them show signs of illness.
These kinds of wireless sensors are all the rage with animals, as I have reported recently. This doggy device keeps track of temperature, pulse and respiration. It also monitors activity patterns and calories burned. Software then compares the dog’s stats with data about the dog’s breed to tell if they results are as expected. If they deviate from the norm in a way that indicates a problem, the collar sends an alert both to the owner and to the vet.
This also means that vets will be able to monitor how the dogs respond to their treatment.
