MEDICAL DEVICE OF THE WEEK: PIRATE-THEMED SCANNER

If you’ve ever suffered through the experience of having a CT scan in a hospital – or if you ‘ve just seen it happen to someone else on the TV – you’ll be able to image how scary the experience must be for a child.
So in order to put kids at their ease and make the experience less traumatic, the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian has themed their scanner room, and the device itself, so it looks like a pirate ship.
