The secret to a longer life, it turns out, is to get a hobby. New research shows that over-65s who feel happy and fulfilled live on average two years longer than the more gloomy pensioners.
Those who have a sense of purpose and well-being are 30% less likely to die within eight and a half years than those with a cynical demeanour who don’t have a purpose.
According to the study by University College London, uplifting activities such as gardening, golf, or even just seeing your grandchildren, were found to keep the participants fitter and healthier.
