ASTRONOMICAL PICTURES OF THE WEEK: AURORAS AND A METEOR

Last Wednesday there was a massive solar storm that bombarded the Earth with magnetic plasma. The result was a spectacular light show in both the north and south hemispheres. In England, the aurora borealis was visible as far south as the midlands.
