The process by which a small wriggly caterpillar morphs into a winged butterfly or moth is one of nature’s more astonishing transformations. Normally you would imagine that the most beautiful stage is the final butterfly, but that’s not necessarily true – some caterpillars look pretty spectacular in their own right.
